Into The Vortex

A Skill Set 8-level bonus game, Into The Vortex incorporates integers, fractions, decimals, percentages, exponents, scientific notation and more! To play, students click the three panels that contain EQUIVALENT values (an example would be: 0.5, 3/6 and 1/2).

Students get a real workout while they hone comparison skills with Into The Vortex! As each player's skill level increases, so does the game's difficulty.

See individual game directions for more information and sticker schedules.

Students have a limited time to answer, as displayed by the green bar on the right side of the screen. If three equivalent values have been correctly chosen, the panel shapes sweep into the vortex and the player is awarded 10 points. An incorrect selection deducts 10 points. At the end of each game, points are converted into "stickers".

There are six levels for each game. Every 60 points scored results in an automatic jump to the next level. The number of panels increase with the levels as follows:
Levels 1 & 2: 5 panels
Levels 3 & 4: 6 panels
Levels 5 & 6: 7 panels

If students make a mistake, a clock will appear. If you can go 25 seconds without a second mistake, the clock disappears and the game continues. If you make another incorrect selection while the clock is still running, the game ends and you will be credited with the points earned. The clock is 25 seconds in games 1 to 5, and 30 seconds in games 6 to 15.
