Equal Pay

The Equal Pay bonus game is a wonderful activity for younger students that helps students recognize and count all denominations of coins and bills currently in circulation. Like many First In Math games, it also contains a few twists that encourage students to think ‘outside the box’. All denominations up to $100 bills are included (with exception of the $2 bill, as it is rarely encountered).

Equal Pay BONUS STICKERS: Students are given 1/4 bonus sticker each time they count out the correct amount using the least number of coins/bills possible. At the end of a game, fractional bonus stickers earned are rounded up. The maximum number of bonus stickers a player can earn in each game is 3. At the end of each game, points are converted into stickers using a schedule, see game directions for full details.

Equal Pay Example

Student must correctly select two panels that display equal amounts of money, and then "count out" that same amount using coins and bills. Select a panel by clicking on it. Challenge increases as players advance.

Focus: 1¢ to 99¢ in one-cent increments; 5¢ to $10 in five- and ten-cent increments; 25¢ to $100 in 25- and 50-cent increments and $1.01 to $1,000 in any increment. BONUS stickers are awarded each time student counts out the correct amount using the least number of coins/bills possible.
